On August 28, 2020 a meeting led by the Novgorod Region Minister of Agriculture Ms. Elena Pokrovskaya was held between the SPC RAS Director Prof. Andrey Ronzhin and the leaders of Novgorod research and educational institutions.
The Novgorod Region Minister of Agriculture Ms. Elena V. Pokrovskaya supported the SPC RAS initiative on establishing an Innovative and Technological Center for the development and promotion of digital agriculture systems and robotic technologies at Novgorod Research Agriculture Institute.
At Innovative and Technological Center it is also planned to study and develop intelligent systems for proactive management of the life cycle of production, storage and transportation of products of closed vertical farms. For today, vertical farms automation is an urgent task; its solution will significantly reduce human resources, as well as improve the quality of monitoring and management of such systems. Automation of processes occurring in vertical farms is a way to robotization and intellectualization of such complexes, aimed at excluding human participation in routine processes as well as in ongoing system monitoring.
