SRCES RAS was established as an institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences in accordance with the Decision of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences of March 19, 1991 No.74 and the Decree of the Presidium of the Leningrad Scientific Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences of April 2, 1991 No.01-78.
Currently, SRCES RAS is a separate division of the Federal State Institution of Science “St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences” (SPC RAS)
Throughout its existence and development history SRCES RAS did basic and applied research in the field of environmental safety. At the moment SRCES RAS is a major innovative research center and contributes to the development of world and domestic science as the separate division of SPC RAS.
