On December 19, 1977, by Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 2643-p and the Decree of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences of January 19, 1978, No. 194 the Leningrad Research Computer Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences was established on the basis of the Leningrad Computer Center – department of Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Currently, the St. Petersburg Institute for Informatics and Automation of the Russian Academy of Sciences is a structural division of St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
