"The year was difficult enough for most agricultural producers and other citizens, consumers of agricultural products.

The problems concerning the pandemic and rise in resource prices were aggravated by non-system nature of regulation and support for the industry. At that, competition for agricultural land is intensifying in regions with high agro-climatic potential.

The demand for livestock products is not growing, reduced purchasing power of main population groups affects the market more and more, the export development of livestock products is supported fragmentally."

However, there also exist factors that have had a positive impact on the development of the sector. The integration of the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development within St. Petersburg Federal Research Center RAS continues.

"Digitalization of production processes management is actively developing. Farms systematically mastering innovative developments ensure the development sustainability despite the crisis phenomena in the economy.

Direct support of milk producers at purchasing the machinery and equipment for fodder production and dairy farming is provided by many regions."
