The fourth topical interdisciplinary workshop on technologies focused on the Earth remote sensing, analysis and visualization of geospatial data was held at the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPC RAS).
The workshop took place on June 14 in a hybrid format on the premises of SPC RAS, when three speakers were given a floor, and presented their projects in regard to the application of geospatial data analysis and visualization technologies, as well as to the application of the Earth remote sensing technologies in various tasks.
The workshop discussed versatile problems of creating and applying remote sensing technologies and analyzing geospatial data, including those based on artificial intelligence technologies.
The first presentation made by the IL RAS – SPC RAS researchers considered an analysis of the problems while creating maps of geological and geographical content. The second presentation by the SRCES RAS – SPC RAS dwelt upon the basic problem of the geothermal aspect of the energy supply of the lands in the North-West. The workshop arrived to its logical conclusion in the presentation made by researchers of the SPIIRAS – SPC RAS, who highlighted the features of the Earth remote sensing data use at implementing the projects realizing the scientific areas of the SPC RAS structural divisions.
While discussing the results of the presentations made, the workshop participants came to a consensus that it is necessary to further develop analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of integrating various maps based on specific data examples and specific sites, to intensify professional relations with organizations engaged in geospatial data, as well as to use data received in course of expeditions run by the IL RAS – SPC RAS team, to form new visualization layers in the service of the Center for Collective Use of research Equipment "North-West Center for Monitoring and Forecasting the Territories’ Development". Another important outcome of the workshop was the decision to develop a creative team out of the Center specialists in order to work on an interdisciplinary project to experimentally test the hypothesis of the significance of the influence of convective removal of endogenous heat on the lands’ energy supply.
The next workshop on technologies for managing the organo - bacterial community in crop production is scheduled for July 1, 2022.
