By the Order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation dated February 19, 2024 No. 10-248 p-o Ronzhin Andrey Leonidovich is confirmed a Director of the Federal State Institution of Science "St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences" (SPC RAS).

The above important appointment was preceded by long lasting complex procedures and took quite a while to arrive to the desirable resolution. So, the beginning of the process goes back to February of 2023 when time came for the SPC RAS team to think about a new director for the next term, and an appropriate announcement has been posted on the website of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation about the start of accepting materials from candidates for the positions of directors of subordinate scientific organizations.
Following this Сall the Academic Council of SPC RAS had developed and approved the Regulation on the procedure for the election of a Director of SPC RAS (Protocol No. 2 dated February 28, 2023) and launched the process. The election process is a competitive event, in this regard On May 30, 2023, at a meeting of the Academic Council of the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, chaired by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.I. Kostyaev, according to the results of a secret ballot, two candidates for the position of the director of the Federal State Institution of Science "St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences" were nominated: Kuleshov S.V., Ronzhin A.L. The requested mandatory document sets have been timely submitted by SPC RAS to the Ministry and to the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences; both authorities took their time for considerations.
On October 3, 2023, the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences agreed on candidates for positions of directors of scientific organizations subordinate to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and decided to agree with the following candidates for the position of Director of SPC RAS:
Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Kuleshov Sergey Viktorovich,
Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Leonidovich Ronzhin.
One month later the Decree of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation "On approval of candidates for the positions of heads of scientific organizations subordinate to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation", dated November 1, 2023 No. 390-r confirmed candidatures of S.V. Kuleshov and A.L. Ronzhin for the position of the SPC RAS director.
In a result time came for the SPC RAS team to express its will, and a format of the general meeting of SPC RAS answered best this intention and desire. The SPC RAS General Meeting was arranged for November 24, 2023 and the attendance matched the event importance and attended by staff members of all six institutions of the Center: SPIIRAS, IAERD, N-W CIRPFM, SRCES RAS; IL RAS; NSRAI branch. Both nominees delivered their SPC RAS Development Programs, special time was allocated for discussions, etc. It is worth mentioning that General Meeting was run in compliance with all the rules, including timely announcement, due supervision of the SPC RAS Election Commission (approved by the Academic Council of SPC RAS, Protocol No. 4 dated November 10, 2023), clear procedure and results announcement of a secret ballot.
Ultimately, on November 24, 2023, according to the results of a secret ballot of the SPC RAS General Meeting, Andrey Leonidovich Ronzhin, was elected a director of the Federal State Institution of Science "St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences".
