At SPIEF-2023 the Committee for Environmental Management of St. Petersburg and the city division of the Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences reached an agreement on the environmental well-being of water bodies. The above was reported by the press service of the city Committee

Parties agreed to arrange for exchange of scientific, technical, regulatory and other information in regard to joint projects.

According to the Committee, main areas of cooperation included the assessment of the water bodies’ state on the territory of St. Petersburg, the study of "blooming" water,  joint development and testing of equipment, assessment of possible negative consequences of the climate change.

"Currently, the Committee, in conjunction with the scientific community, considers the problems of decreasing dynamics of the blue-green algae development in the reservoirs of St. Petersburg, and assigns a top priority to accounting for the experience gained by scientists to date," Alexander German, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Management, commented the signing of the agreement. 

St. Petersburg International Economic Forum took place from June 14-17. St. Petersburg signed agreements for 500 billion rubles.
