Researchers of the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPC RAS) ran master classes for students and schoolchildren on programming ground robots intended to perform various tasks at the RUSSIA EXPO.
During the RUSSIA EXPO, that takes place at the VDNH site from November 2023 to April 2024, scientists from SPC RAS exercised master classes "Demonstration of performance of a ground-based robotic platform for online learning of robot programming in Python", where they introduced students, schoolchildren and other guests of the event to the first domestic complex to teaching programming the ground robots that operate in a single digital environment. The complex permits to develop software in Python for robots intended to perform a variety of tasks.
Development was exclusively accomplished by the SPC RAS team members; it is aimed at improving the universal practical competencies of students at universities training professionals in robotics; the demonstrated approach will definitely bring the training of such specialists in Russia to an advanced level.
As part of the master class, students, under the guidance of mentors, independently program robots, and then, using special cameras and sensors, observe how robotic platforms independently perform various tasks. To do this, the Complex is furnished with a whole range of different test tracks.
Robots are controlled in real time mode using a special digital environment, also developed by researchers of SPC RAS. If desired, visitors can also control the robotic platform manually by virtual joystick.
The International exhibition the RUSSIA EXPO” takes place at the VDNH site from November 4, 2023 to April 12, 2024. The event is aimed at a large-scale demonstration of the main achievements of the country. The participants of the exhibition-forum will be representatives of all 89 regions of Russia, federal ministries, departments, corporations, scientific and educational institutions and public organizations.
