On March 17, the China-Russia Symposium on Aquatic Environment Management and Green Low-Carbon Economy Development was held in Yixing, China. The symposium was organized by Peking University, Nanjing University, Jiangnan University, and the Russian Engineering Academy.

Due to a support of the International Cooperation Department at the St. Petersburg Branch of RAS, Director of SPC RAS Andrey Ronzhin took part in the symposium. His invited presentation "Promising technologies for monitoring, forecasting and restoring the aquatic ecosystems" covered the solutions developed by the teams of IL RAS, SRCES RAS and SPIIRAS in the cage aquaculture, instrumental biomonitoring, assessment of the toxicity of natural and treated wastewater, as well as ways to reduce the environmental load on fresh water bodies.

The opening ceremony of the Chinese-R&D Engineering Center for Lake Management was held within the framework of the Symposium. It is planned to engage SPC RAS to solving the promising environmental problems of the center under  the said cooperation.
