From February 12 - 14, 2024 the annual tournament of pre-university educational organizations of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation "Engineers of the Future" was held in St. Petersburg on the basis of the Military Academy of Communications named after S.M. Budyonny. Competitions were traditionally held in 5 competencies: • "Mechatronics" • "Milling machines with numerical control" • "Numerically controlled lathes" • "Cybersecurity" • "Ground robotics"

By the Order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation dated February 19, 2024 No. 10-248 p-o Ronzhin Andrey Leonidovich is confirmed a Director of the Federal State Institution of Science "St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences" (SPC RAS).

Within the scientific event, over 200 participants from Russia and Belarus discussed the past and present of limnology, a science studying the lakes and other freshwater reservoirs.

Researchers of the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPC RAS) ran master classes for students and schoolchildren on programming ground robots intended to perform various tasks at the RUSSIA EXPO.

Research expedition within the Federal Scientific and Educational Program “Floating University”, that engaged the geo-ecologist of SPC RAS, investigated the anthropogenic load on the coastal waters of the South-Eastern part of Kamchatka by assessing the population of bacteria that characterize water pollution. The maximum indices of pollutants were recorded in the Avacha Bay, where the port city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsy located. The received research results can be used at assessing the environmental situation of the coastal zone.

Researchers of the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPC RAS) jointly with colleagues from the Botanical Institute named after Komarov, the Nizhne-Svirsky State Reserve and a branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography perform comprehensive monitoring of the state of the environment (composition of soils, water, biodiversity, etc.) in the Surgut district of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug at sites of the Surgutneftegaz group of fields – one of the largest Russian oil and gas companies.

25th Anniversary International Conference "Speech and Computer" SPECOM-2023 was held from November 29 to December 2, 2023. The conference was held in a hybrid format:face-to-face in Dharwad, Karnataka, India, as well as online. Three members of the Laboratory of Speech and Multimodal Interfaces at PC RAS took part in the arrangements for the conference and delivered presentations namely: Doctor of Technical Sciences, Chief Researcher Karpov, A.A.; Candidate of Technical Sciences, Senior Researcher Ivanko; D.V. and Candidate of Technical Sciences, Senior Researcher Kipyatkova, I.S.

Scientists of the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPC RAS) have developed a program that ensures a cybersecurity of automated water treatment monitoring systems at industrial enterprises and municipal services. For the program’s “learning” the scientists have developed the first in Russia training stand to acquire and monitor data from wastewater treatment plants operating under regular conditions and under cyberattacks.

Researchers of the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPC RAS), based on a survey of farmers over three regions in the Northwestern Federal District, established the relationship between the sustainability of the development of organic agriculture in these territories and the terms of economic activity in the agricultural sector. The results of the study are available in the proceedings of the International Conference on Agriculture Digitalization and Organic Production(ADOP).

St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPC RAS), St. Petersburg State University and Sberbank have opened a master's program for training specialists in the field of artificial intelligence, particularly, for a development of intelligent transport infrastructure management systems in the Arctic. Already the first year students, within the proposed program will be involved in real research and production projects of SPC RAS and Sberbank.
